Leonidio Information Center for the Flora of Mount Parnon

The Leonidio Information Centre for the Flora of Mount Parnon was created in order to highlight the flora of Mount Parnon, one of the richest mountains of Europe. Parnon is, after all, one of the  protected areas of NATURA 2000.

The Environmental Interpretation Exhibition has the purpose of introducing the visitors to the various species of flora of the mountain, but also serves educational purposes.

The creation of exhibition aims to inform the visitors about the natural environment of the protected area, to promote the physical characteristics that make the protected area special, to enhance the local tourist product, to raise awareness of the protection of species of flora and the natural environment in general, to support the environmental education of schools in the Peloponnese Region, to reinforce the concept of the protection of natural wealth and biodiversity, to raise awareness of the sustainable management of natural environment elements, to attract visitors and to motivate them to find remarkable places of nature and culture in the wider region.

The Information Centre is housed at the heart of Leonidio. The building itself is an architectural monument that was used as a residence in the 19th century, but also as a school.
